‘Mutually Beneficial’ Partnership between Spain and Morocco, Example for Region’s Countries (Albares)

“We want to have with all our neighbors the same relationship we have with Morocco,” said Alabres, who took part Monday evening in a Forum in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, noting that ties between the two countries are based on “mutual respect and benefit, the absence of unilateral actions and non-interference in domestic affairs”.

In this context, the head of Spanish diplomacy welcomed the results of the new dynamic between the two countries, since the visit of president of the Government, Pedro Sanchez, to Morocco last April.

“All the points” contained in the Spanish-Moroccan Declaration of April 7 are being implemented, he said, recalling that air and sea connectivity has been fully restored and collaboration on migration and the fight against human trafficking mafias has increased.

According to Albares, “all migratory routes to Europe are growing, except those to Spain”.

On the economic side, the minister said that bilateral trade has been revived, reaching a value of 7 billion euros since the beginning of the year, i.e. 2 billion more than last year.
