The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), in collaboration with “Common Ground International”, announced the next cycle of Ballet shows performed by the world renowned
State Academic Theater of Classical Ballet Natalia Kasatkina and Vladimir Vasilev, coming to the Kingdom of Bahrain from May 4th-6th, 2023.
The shows will take place at Exhibition World Bahrain’s Grand Hall, the region’s newest exhibition and convention centre, in Sakhir. The Grand Hall offers world-class flexibility in design with multiple configurations, to incorporate various types of events such as ballet shows, live events, and more. It features retractable seating with rows of multiple tiers, with a 400-4,000 seat capacity along with 20 translation booths.
“Common Ground International” in partnership with the American non-profit “The Arts & Science Achievement Foundation”, and with the support of BTEA, continues its implementation of a large-scale International Cultural Project “Common Ground” in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
After the first successful ballet shows “Swan Lake” and “Sleeping Beauty”, held at Exhibition World Bahrain between March 2nd – 4th , which amassed almost 5 000 spectators , the project continues with the performances of “Don Quixote”, “Mowgli” and “Cinderella”.
The troupe is known for their innovative choreography, modern adaptations and exciting productions. Don Quixote is one of their most joyous and exciting ballet productions, originally known for being a “performance in times of celebration”. It is based on the epic novel by Cervantes of the adventures of the chivalrous knight set to the sparkling music of Ludwig Minkus- this lively ballet transports the audience straight to sunny Spain! Common Ground International also decided to include “Cinderella” and “Mowgli” for the ballet performances in May, following the astounding success and reception of the children’s interactive performance “Sleeping Beauty: Aurora’s Wedding” that took place on March 4th at Exhibition World Bahrain.
“There is no better way to introduce children to this prestigious art than through familiar favorite stories, and after seeing their curiosity and excitement at our last event, we knew we had to surprise and delight them once more!” – says project organizer Dr. Anna Artsibasheva.
This is the troupe’s first time performing in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
BTEA CEO, Dr. Nasser Qaedi, underscored Bahrain’s readiness to attract more large-scale international events stressing BTEA’s commitment to continue to attract the best entertainment and artistic shows from around the world, to work towards achieving Bahrain’s tourism strategic objectives.
Exhibition World Bahrain’s General Manager, Dr Debbie Kristiansen commented: “We are delighted to continue hosting world renowned ballet shows at Exhibition World Bahrain in collaboration with Common Ground International, and are looking forward to another successful set of shows following the Imperial Russian Ballet performances debuts at our Grand Hall”.
Dr Debbie added that the Grand Hall’s floor plan, including the stage and seating arrangement, were modified to ensure that the audience have the best views of the ballet performances wherever they are seated, as part of Exhibition World Bahrain’s efforts to ensure visitors enjoy exceptional and memorable experiences.
