Jordan announces precautionary measures to protect tourists from heat wave

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Department of Antiquities In the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan urged precautions to ensure the safety of visitors at tourist attractions as a heat wave will grip the Kingdom this week.

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Makram Qaisi instructed authorities to put in place all safety measures for both workers and visitors at archaeological sites and landmarks to ensure optimal safety from soaring temperatures.

Department of Antiquities Director General Fadi Balawi asked local authorities across the governorates to activate emergency response procedures, including the provision of umbrellas, hats and cold water, to protect workers and visitors from heat stroke and exhaustion.

Balawi said all antiquities departments had introduced safety measures and first aid to respond to any emergencies, urging utmost caution during the extreme heat, reports Jordan News Agency (Petra).
