The Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Affairs at the Ministry of Interior announced today, Sunday, the arrest of 170 suspects and the seizure of more than 60 kg of drugs during the past week.
“The Anti-drug file is a priority for the government and the security services, and they are continuing to entrap those involved, including promoters, transporters and smugglers,” said the Directorate’s Spokesman, Colonel Bilal Sobhi, to the official Agency. “There is Iraqi cooperation with neighboring countries to entrap international drug networks.”
He added, “The security services carried out large operations to overthrow those involved in such networks, which recently resulted in the overthrow of a large network in the Kurdistan region, and about 500 kg of Captagon were confiscated during the operation.”
He revealed, “The implementation of operations last week resulted in the arrest of 170 accused of trade, promotion and abuse, and the seizure of 60 kg of narcotic substances, which varied between crystal, hashish and opium.”
