PARIS: France condemned today the holding of a meeting in occupied Jerusalem on Sunday, which was attended by Israeli far-right ministers and Knesset members, and the remarks made during the meeting to push for the establishment of colonies in the Gaza Strip and the forced displacement of its population.
‘We expect from the Israeli authorities a clear denunciation of these positions,” said a spokesperson in the French foreign ministry.
He recalled the binding provisional measures imposed on Israel by the International Court of Justice, including for Israel to take all measures within its power to prevent and punish the direct and public incitement to genocide.
The ministry’s spokesperson stressed that Israel has no right to decide where the Palestinians should live on their land, adding that the future of the Gaza Strip and its population lies in a contiguous Palestinian state living alongside Israel in peace and security.
