Italy’s Martina Trevisan Wins 20th HRH Princess Lalla Meryem Tennis Grand Prix

The Italian, 85th in the WTA rankings, confirmed her good form in this final by not giving up any set to her opponent to win the match in 6-2, 6-1. She also defeated the favorite of the tournament, Garbiñe Muguruza (world's 10th).

American Claire Liu reached the final after the Hungarian Anna Bondár withdrew due to injury.

In the doubles event, played the day before, the Japanese Eri Hozumi and Makoto Ninomiya won in the final against the pair composed of the Russian Alexandra Panova and the Romanian Monica Niculescu 6-7 (7-9), 6-3, 10-8.

The 20th edition of HRH Princess Lalla Meryem Tennis Grand Prix, held from May 14 to 21, was marked by a distinguished presence of the best players in the world.

Placed under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, this international sporting event hosted this year 60 players representing 20 countries, including 30 ranked in the world top 100.

The winner of the HRH Princess Lalla Meryem Grand Prix, with a prize money of USD 250,000, will receive 280 points in the ranking of the best players in the world, while the finalist will receive 180 points.

The players eliminated in the semifinals will earn 110 points individually, the same number that will go to the three best pairs in doubles.
