The speakers at this meeting, organized by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency on the theme “the role of cultural centers in preserving the identity of Al-Quds: the example of the Moroccan center,” said that these entities act as a safeguard for the preservation of the civilizational legacy and heritage identity of the Holy City.
They also discussed the possibilities of cultural action within the Holy City, like the experience of the Kingdom of Morocco, which has built its cultural center in the old city of Al Quds to participate in the preservation of the core of Al Quds and the historical presence of Moroccans in this city.
On this occasion, the Director in charge of the management of the Bayt Mal Al Quds Asharif Agency, Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, said that the Moroccan cultural center is an example to follow for countries wishing to contribute to the preservation of the Palestinian identity of Al Quds and to safeguard its cultural heritage and its architectural character.
This center strengthens the emotional bond of Moroccans with Al-Quds and reminds them of the sacrifices made to preserve the religious and civilizational symbols of the holy city, he added.
For his part, the director of the Moroccan cultural center in Al Quds, Ismail Al-Ramli, described the Moroccan cultural center as a space for communication and coexistence and a link between peoples, noting that this building embodies more than 1,000 years of Moroccan presence in Al Quds.
The dean of the Faculty of Letters under the University of Al Quds, called to federate efforts in the service of the Holy City and its inhabitants to protect the Holy City from all attempts to distort its Arab-Islamic identity.
The Palestinian writer Tahssine Yakine stressed the ability of culture to mobilize the rising Palestinian generations to assume the responsibility of defending Al Quds and its civilizational identity, praising in this regard the contribution of the Kingdom through its cultural center in Al Quds.
