Rabat: To mark the 69th anniversary of Independence Day, Mr. Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST), chaired the annual ceremony of excellence organized by the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Social Works of National Security Personnel at the Mohammed V Theater in Rabat on Monday.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the ceremony was attended by various members of the National Security family, including directors, executives from the central and decentralized services of the DGSN and DGST, active and retired civil servants, as well as children and orphans of civil servants affiliated with the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Social Works of National Security Personnel.
This year’s Excellence Ceremony provided an opportunity to support social action within the public police service by honoring children and orphans of the National Security family who had achieved outstanding academic success. Scholarships and financial rewards were awarded to en
courage these youth to pursue higher education. These financial aids include university scholarships totaling MAD 50,000, distributed over five years, benefiting 12 students who achieved the highest averages and entered university establishments.
In addition to the university scholarships, exceptional grants ranging from MAD 4,000 to MAD 5,000 were awarded to 109 students who achieved the best academic marks. The awards ceremony was attended by the parents of the prizewinners to motivate them to continue excelling in their studies.
The Mohammed VI Foundation for the Social Works of National Security Personnel has adopted a rigorous selection process for scholarship recipients, focusing on core subject averages. The Foundation plans to increase both the amount and number of scholarships and awards for the upcoming academic year, aligning with the directives of the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance.
The Foundation has also initiated a new social program, forming partnerships
with various academic and university institutions to facilitate access to education for children and orphans of police officers. These partnerships include agreements with private university institutes, offering full scholarships or tuition fee reductions of up to 50% for orphans of the National Security.
This year’s ceremony also paid tribute to police officers who excelled in artistic and sporting competitions organized by the Mohammed VI Foundation. Financial prizes were awarded to the winners of a painting competition, and selected artworks will be exhibited publicly. On the sports front, the top teams in the national futsal championship were honored, with prizes awarded to the Settat police prefecture, Dakhla regional police headquarters, and Oujda police prefecture.
The Mohammed VI Foundation is working on a register of the National Security family’s achievements in arts, culture, and sports to further showcase the talents of police officers in future events.
