HM the King Approves Supreme Council of Ulema’s Fatwa on Zakat for Public Release


Rabat: His Majesty the King, Commander of the Faithful, has officially taken note of the Supreme Council of Ulema’s Fatwa on Zakat and granted His High Approval for its public release. The Fatwa is scheduled to be available online on the Supreme Council of Ulema’s website and the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs portal on Friday, October 24, at 3:00 p.m., as confirmed by the Council’s statement on Wednesday.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the statement highlighted that His Majesty the King, Commander of the Faithful, had sent a Letter to the Supreme Council of Ulema. This was on the occasion of Aid Al Mawlid Annabaoui Asharif and the 15th-century anniversary of Prophet Sidna Mohammed’s birth, dated September 10, 2025. In this Letter, the King instructed the Council to issue a comprehensive Fatwa on Zakat.

The Supreme Council of Ulema, adhering to the High Royal Guidelines and executing the Royal Letter, assigned the Fatwa Committee to prepare the Fatwa. This document was then approved by
the Council and submitted for High Royal Appreciation on October 6, 2025, as detailed in the statement.
