LaLiga President Eyes Taking Matches to Morocco

Rabat: LaLiga president Javier Tebas has opened the door to the possibility of staging Spanish league fixtures in Morocco, hailing the Kingdom as one of the most passionate strongholds of Spanish football. In an interview with MAP, Tebas said the massive following of LaLiga in Morocco makes such a move both realistic and strategically appealing.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Tebas noted that the number of fans who follow the Spanish league in Morocco would make organizing matches there easier, particularly due to straightforward travel and logistics. He mentioned the potential of hosting a fixture in Casablanca’s upcoming stadium as a feasible option, stating, “We could look at playing a match in the new Casablanca stadium-why not?”

Tebas also emphasized the significance of the memorandum of understanding signed between LaLiga and Morocco’s National Professional Football League. He described this as a crucial step towards enhancing coordination and strengthening football ties between the two countries.
