Rabat: The 20th “Skoda Titan Desert Morocco 2026” race, scheduled for April 26 to May 1, was presented Thursday in Rabat. The 2026 edition, presented at the residence of the Spanish ambassador to Morocco, will take place in the southeast of the Kingdom, covering a distance of approximately 600 kilometers divided into six stages.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, this race, one of the most prestigious and challenging international stage cycling races, is part of the “Titan World Series” global circuit and exemplifies a model of sports and organizational cooperation between Spanish stakeholders and their Moroccan counterparts. In a statement to the press, Spanish Ambassador to Morocco Enrique Ojeda Vila noted that Skoda Titan Desert Morocco is a Spanish initiative in partnership with Morocco bringing the two neighboring countries closer through sports.
He affirmed that relations between Morocco and Spain “are at their best point in history, as both governments have already confirmed,” highlighting remarkable momentum across all economic, commercial, social, and sporting spheres. Sports director of the Titan World Series Manuel Tajada detailed that the 20th edition will feature approximately 500 cyclists, in addition to three teams from the Royal Moroccan Cycling Federation, noting that the race will consist of six stages totaling 600 km, with the start scheduled to take place from Boumalne-Dad¨s to the summit of M’Goun.
The second stage will cross Chargho from north to south to reach Alnif, while the third stage marks the start of the marathon category, with a 100-km crossing of the desert to Sidi Ali Tafraout. The fourth stage involves crossing sand dunes, particularly in the Ergh Znaghi region, before reaching Erfoud in the sixth stage.
For his part, Titan World Series Director Jon Iriondo emphasized that the Morocco stage is the series’ flagship event, adding that the launch of Titan Desert Morocco was primarily to create a rally similar to the Dakar Rally, but specifically for bicycles. He noted that similar events take place in Patagonia, Mexico, and Spain, highlighting the desire to launch the ‘The Road to Morocco’ program, which aims to increase the visibility and reach of the ‘Skoda Titan Desert Morocco.
