Rabat: Some 27,500 children with disabilities were enrolled in Moroccan schools in 2024, for a total budget of MAD 396 million, Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family, Naima Ben Yahya, said on Tuesday.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Minister stated during the House of Councillors’ question time that 19,000 people benefited from technical and medical aids. Additionally, 1,000 project leaders received support with a total budget of MAD 53.5 million, aside from several initiatives launched to boost purchasing power.
Ben Yahya highlighted that these efforts are part of the integrated policy to promote the rights of persons with disabilities for the period 2015-2025. This policy primarily aims to align legislative and regulatory frameworks while integrating the disability dimension into both territorial and national development plans.
She further explained that the Ministry is working to enhance the understanding of disability by raising societal awareness. The initiative also encou
rages families to declare their disabled children to ensure they receive the benefits intended for them.
