El jadida: The fifth edition of the High-Level Meeting of Heads of Counter-Terrorism and Security Agencies in Africa, known as the ‘Marrakech Platform,’ commenced on Tuesday in El Jadida. This event is co-chaired by Morocco and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT).
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the two-day event sees participation from approximately 40 African intelligence and security services. Additionally, 90 delegations from the Middle East, Europe, the Americas, and Asia are attending as observers. The meeting also includes representatives from United Nations regional institutions.
In a context filled with ongoing terrorist threats across the continent, the meeting builds on previous editions held in cities such as Marrakech, Tangier, Fez, and Agadir. The continuous interest in the ‘Marrakech Platform’ from African nations and international partners underscores its importance.
The Platform serves as a crucial forum for exchanging expertise, enhancing regional cooperation, and setting priorities for capacity-building efforts in counterterrorism across Africa.
