Yassine Bounou Joins Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal

Spanish club Sevilla announced on Thursday evening that they have reached an agreement with Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal for the transfer of their Moroccan goalkeeper, Yassine Bounou.

“Sevilla would like to thank Bounou for his work and performance during this period, which is coming to an end, and wish him all the best in the new stage that awaits him. Thank you, Bounou,” stressed the Spanish club in a statement.

After joining Sevilla for the 2019/20 season, Bounou played 142 official matches and won several titles, including the first Zamora Trophy of his career and of his club.

At the end of the 2022-2023 season, he won the Europa League, playing a key role in the penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw with AS Roma. The Moroccan goalkeeper saved two penalties to secure a second European title with the Andalusian side.

The Atlas Lion joins Neymar, Malcom, Koulibaly, Milinkovic-Savic and Ruben Neves at the Saudi club. According to media reports, the transfer fee for the Moroccan international would be €21 million.

The Moroccan international goalkeeper has been the target of several European giants, including Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.
