Rabat Business School Celebrates Cultural ‘International Day’.


Rabat: Rabat Business School (RBS), part of International University of Rabat (UIR), organized on Wednesday the 4th RBS International Day, held this year under the theme ‘Celebrating unity through diversity’. This event aims to promote the cultural and gastronomic plurality of the Rabat Business School campus, represented by colorful stands ran by students and educators from various countries.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Badrdine Boulaid, officer in charge of Incoming Mobility and organizer of the event, expressed his delight in honoring the unity and diversity of the RBS campus. The 4th edition was marked by the participation of 24 countries from Europe, Asia, and Africa, including Austria, Belgium, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, and Russia, alongside first-time participants from Suriname, Croatia, and Costa Rica.

Dr. Muzhar Javed, a Pakistani Associate Professor at the Management Sciences Department, emphasized the event as a celebration of diversity and inclusion for UIR students, supervisors,
and guests from different backgrounds. He highlighted the Pakistani stand’s focus on showcasing traditional costumes and culinary arts, particularly doubling the quantity of “biryani,” a popular dish from Pakistan.

Sanjana Soemeer, an exchange student from Suriname, expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to promote her local culture in Morocco. Wearing traditional attire, she took the chance to introduce the diverse culinary specialties of Suriname, representing its indigenous, Indian, and Creole cultures.

Tommy Souphan, a second-year Master’s student from Belgium, shared his excitement about experiencing the cultural diversity of the campus, particularly impressed by the offerings at the Chad stand. Meanwhile, Abdulmalik Olarinoye Salau, an Assistant Professor from Nigeria, praised the rich cultural exchanges and traditional dishes showcased by students from Nigeria, Niger, and Congo.

The event featured tastings of various traditional dishes, music, and dance from sub-Saharan Africa, especially Gabon, a
nd plays highlighting aspects of African societies. First held in 2021, Rabat Business School’s International Day has become a key event celebrating cultural plurality through the active participation of international professors and students sharing their cultures and traditions.
