Rabat: Thirty-six people were killed and 2,787 injured, 126 of them seriously, in the 2,148 road accidents that occurred in urban areas on November 11-17, according to the General Directorate for National Security (DGSN).
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, these accidents were mainly due to drivers’ inattention, failure to give priority, speeding, and failure to keep a safe distance, as pointed out by the DGSN in a press release.
Regarding the control and repression of traffic offenses, the security services drew up 51,023 tickets. There were 9,359 reports submitted to the public prosecutor’s office, while 41,664 transactional fines were collected, amounting to 9.1 million dirhams.
The DGSN also reported the withdrawal of 9,359 driving licenses and the immobilization of 336 vehicles.
