Rabat: Under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco is moving forward with confidence and determination on its development path across all sectors, further strengthening its position as a continental and regional leader, British Member of Parliament Andrew Murrison said.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Murrison emphasized the remarkable transformation Morocco has undergone over the past 27 years, achieving significant progress particularly in social and economic spheres. He highlighted the country’s advancements in infrastructure and education, crediting these achievements to the strong and enlightened leadership of King Mohammed VI.
Murrison, a senior politician from the Conservative Party and former Minister for Defence and Minister of State at the Foreign Office, pointed out that Morocco’s development strategy prioritizes the well-being of its citizens. He noted the Moroccan authorities’ recognition of the importance of sustained investment in infrastructure and building a resilient economy for sustainable development.
Discussing Morocco’s international role, Murrison remarked on the Kingdom’s wise balance as a regional power in Africa with a European orientation. He praised Morocco’s cooperative partnerships with African countries and nations like the United Kingdom, which have strengthened diplomatic ties and economic exchanges.
Murrison attributed Morocco’s achievements to rigorous planning and a clear political commitment that defines the country’s trajectory. He noted the country’s political stability and strong leadership as essential factors in turning ambitious goals into reality, attracting international investors who see Morocco as a stable, reliable partner.
He also highlighted the role of sport in Morocco’s development, emphasizing its unifying power, national pride, and future confidence. Murrison expressed optimism about Morocco co-hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2030 alongside Spain and Portugal, viewing it as an extraordinary opportunity.
Reflecting on the historic relationship between Morocco and the United Kingdom, which spans nearly eight centuries, Murrison underscored the importance of adapting bilateral ties to current realities. He cited the 2019 Association Agreement as a step towards enhanced cooperation in areas like infrastructure, trade, and security.
Murrison concluded by expressing hope for deepening the partnership between Morocco and the United Kingdom, noting the promising prospects for future collaboration. “The time has come to take our partnership to the next level,” he stated.
