CAF Awards 2025 Final Shortlists Unveiled with Strong Moroccan Presence


Rabat: This prestigious ceremony will be held in Rabat, Morocco, on November 19 starting at 7:00 PM (6:00 PM GMT), to celebrate the exceptional performances and achievements that have marked African football this year.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, having had a remarkable season, Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi (Paris SG) is among the top 3 for the title of “African Player of the Year,” alongside Egypt’s Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) and Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray).

The list for Best Goalkeepers is marked by the presence of the two Moroccan shot-stoppers Yassine Bounou (Al Hilal) and Mounir Mohamedi (RS Berkane) in addition to South Africa’s Ronwen Williams (Mamelodi Sundowns).

In the “Interclub Player of the Year” category, Moroccans Mohamed Chibi (Pyramids FC) and Oussama Lamlioui (Renaissance Berkane) are on the list of the top three nominees for this award, alongside the Congolese Fiston Mayele.

The “Coach of the Year” category sees the presence of Mohamed Ouahbi and Walid Regra
gui who, along with Cape Verdean Budista, form the top 3 nominees for this title.

The two Atlas Lion cubs Othmane Maamma (Watford) and Abdellah Ouazane (Ajax) will be competing with South Africa’s Tylon Smith (Queens Park Rangers) for the title of “Young Player of the Year.”

In the “National Team of the Year” category, the Senior National Team and the Under-20 National Team are also nominated for the title of “Men’s National Team of the Year” alongside the Cape Verdean national team, while Renaissance Sportive de Berkane will compete with Pyramids FC and Mamelodi Sundowns for the African Club of the Year award.
