According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Hakimi’s exceptional performance extended beyond club achievements, as he was instrumental in leading the Moroccan national team, the Atlas Lions, to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. His contributions on both the domestic and international stages have cemented his status as one of Africa’s premier football talents.

The competition for the African Player of the Year award was fierce, with notable contenders including Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah, who plays for Liverpool, and Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, who is with Galatasaray.
