Rabat: The head coach of Morocco’s women’s national team, Jorge Vilda, praised the decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) declaring Morocco the winner of the latest Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), considering it a “fair reward” for an “extraordinary” run by the Atlas Lions.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, speaking on the program RNE Deportes broadcast on Spain’s national radio, the Spanish coach expressed his “great joy” at the announcement of this decision, which he sees as further confirmation of the high level reached by Moroccan football.
“Morocco deserved to win this cup given its performances and the level of play displayed throughout the tournament,” he said in remarks to the Spanish media outlet.
Referring to the incidents that occurred during the final, Vilda stressed that CAF’s decision stems from a strict application of the regulations. “We all saw what happened. It is now a disciplinary matter that has been settled,” he added.
Beyond the continental title, the women’s national team coach highlighted the momentum currently experienced by the Kingdom, describing the development observed in the sporting sector as “extraordinary.”
