CAF Unveils Official Match Ball for AFCON-Morocco 2025

Rabat: CAF has introduced the official match ball for the upcoming AFCON-Morocco 2025 tournament. Named ITRI, the ball is inspired by Morocco’s ancient zellij art form, known for its intricate geometric mosaics, and symbolizes the unity and passion of African football across the continent.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the name ITRI also honors the star on the Moroccan flag and reflects the star patterns significant in traditional zellij craftsmanship. The ball is set to make its debut during the competition’s opening match on December 21, 2025.

CAF explained that the ball’s design incorporates traditional Moroccan zellij geometric patterns, including central star geometry, floral petal outlines, and circular symmetry. Each element is culturally significant, with the star symbolizing ambition, light, and excellence on Africa’s prominent football stage. The petals represent celebration, growth, and the festive spirit of the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON, while the circular symmetry signifies the unity of the 24 participating nations.

Additionally, the ball features ‘Flow of Movement’ patterns, capturing the rhythm and dynamic playing style of African football. Its red and green color palette expresses passion, hope, and pride, paying homage to Morocco’s national identity.
