Club World Cup in Morocco Will Be “Successful” (Gianni Infantino)

Salé – The president of the International Football Federation (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, said Friday that the Club World Cup, to be held from February 1 to 11 in Rabat and Tangier, “will be successful, given that Morocco is a great country passionate about football.”

Speaking at the draw ceremony of the Club World Cup, which was held at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Salé, Infantino said he was happy to be in Morocco again.

The FIFA President also congratulated Morocco for the historic achievement of its national football team at the World Cup in Qatar in 2002.

Gianni Infantino and the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, arrived Friday morning at the Rabat-Salé airport to take part in the draw of the World Club Championship, where they were welcomed by the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa.

Speaking at the opening of the draw ceremony of the Club World Cup, Lekjaa said that Morocco is ready to organize a successful edition of the Club World Cup and contribute to the development of national football, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.

The draw for the Club World Cup has resulted in a match between Wydad of Casablanca and Saudi club Al Hilal in the quarterfinals of the event.

If Wydad qualifies for the semifinals, it will meet the Brazilian club Flamengo.

Al Ahly (Egypt) will face Auckland City FC (New Zealand) in the first round. The winner of this match will face Seattle Sounders FC (USA) in the 2nd quarterfinal.

In the 2nd semi-final, Real Madrid will face the winner of the 2nd quarter final.
