Collapse of Two Adjacent Buildings in Fez: Judicial Police Opens Investigation Under Supervision of Public Prosecutor


Fez: The judicial police opened an investigation, under the supervision of the public prosecutor, to determine the causes and circumstances behind the collapse on Tuesday evening of two adjacent buildings in the Al Massira neighborhood in the Bensouda area of Fez, announced the King’s Prosecutor at the city’s Court of First Instance.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, one of the two buildings was empty at the time of the collapse, around 11:20 p.m., while the other building was hosting a baptism, the King’s Prosecutor at the Fes Court of First Instance stated in a press release.



A provisional toll indicated that the tragedy resulted in 22 deaths, including children and women, and 16 injuries of varying severity, the same source notes.



Consequently, an investigation has been launched by the judicial police, under the supervision of the public prosecutor, to determine the causes of this incident and clarify its circumstances, the press release concludes.
