Rabat: Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amine Tahraoui, announced that, by Order of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, regional platforms for essential emergency reserves are being established to enhance the health system’s capacity for rapid intervention in emergency situations. In a press statement during the launch of the construction of the essential reserves platform for the Rabat-Sal©-K©nitra region, the Minister highlighted that these platforms will be equipped with advanced medical and healthcare equipment to provide a swift response and immediate care for victims, depending on the severity of their condition, while also ensuring the continuity of basic health services in the early hours of a potential disaster.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, these regional platforms will also feature additional infrastructure, including mobile hospital units in each region and advanced medical posts. They will be stocked with necessary medications and equipment for diagnostic and hospitalization phases. Tahraoui emphasized that the comprehensive program aims to establish regional essential reserve platforms with strategic reserves capable of meeting three times the needs that arose after the Al Haouz earthquake.
Furthermore, the initiative is expected to bolster the development of a national ecosystem for producing equipment and materials essential for immediate rescue operations deployment in the event of disasters. The selection of these regional platform locations was based on security criteria and designed after an in-depth analysis of each Kingdom region’s needs, considering the risks they face, supported by a study of best practices and international standards.
