Baku: Morocco’s Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development Leila Benali highlighted, on Thursday in Baku, the importance of cross-border incentives for structuring sustainable projects.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Benali emphasized the necessity of cross-border incentives to fortify sustainable projects in combating climate change. She underscored the global challenges, particularly in climate financing and stakeholder coordination, which impede the execution of international financing projects.
Benali advocated for innovative management of the climate-trade nexus to prevent trade friction and counteract the inflationary impacts associated with energy transitions. Furthermore, she highlighted the critical need for supporting Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and crafting explicit climate policies, with a focus on sectors such as agriculture, financial market infrastructure (FMI), and mining.
The primary agenda of COP29, scheduled from November 11-22, is climate finance
. This focus aims to empower nations to curtail greenhouse gas emissions and safeguard lives and livelihoods against the escalating impacts of climate change, particularly affecting vulnerable communities.
