Rabat: The head of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS) recently engaged in discussions with a delegation from the Italian ‘Support for Sahara Autonomy Initiative’ Parliamentary Intergroup. The meeting focused on Morocco’s proposal to resolve the longstanding dispute over the Sahara region.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Ettore Rosato, the coordinator of the Italian delegation, expressed strong support for Morocco’s autonomy plan. He described it as the most reliable and realistic approach to achieve peace and stability in the region. Rosato emphasized that the plan, set to be discussed at the United Nations, represents the only viable solution for sustainable growth in the area.
During the meeting, the delegation was briefed by the CORCAS president on the historical context and the evolving dynamics of the Moroccan Sahara issue. The Italian parliamentary intergroup, which comprises members from both the majority and opposition parties in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, is on a working visit to Morocco.
The delegation also visited the Southern provinces of Morocco, where they observed the progress made and projects completed as part of ongoing development efforts. Rosato highlighted that these visits provided the delegation with valuable insights into the advancements and initiatives underway in the region.
