Death Toll from Flash Floods in Safi Rises to 37 – Local Authorities


Rabat: Local authorities in the province of Safi reported that, according to information available as of Monday morning, the death toll resulting from the severe thunderstorms that struck the province on Sunday evening and triggered strong and sudden flash floods has risen to 37.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, 14 people have so far received medical treatment at Mohammed V Hospital in Safi, including two admitted to the intensive care unit. Interventions by public authorities, civil protection services, security forces, and all relevant stakeholders are currently ongoing, with field search operations, rescue efforts, and support and assistance to affected residents.



In this context, local authorities in Safi Province stressed the need to heighten vigilance, exercise the utmost caution, and adhere strictly to safety measures amid the severe weather fluctuations affecting the country, in order to protect lives and property and reduce potential risks.
