Algiers: The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, announced late 2025 as the deadline for completing the census of state-owned estates across the country. This initiative aims to establish a comprehensive database prior to drafting the 2026 Finance Act, as per a statement from the Council of Ministers.
According to Algeria Press Service, this announcement was made during a Council of Ministers meeting chaired by President Tebboune. The meeting included an exhaustive presentation by the High Commissioner for Digitization on the progress of the nationwide digitization project. The President emphasized the importance of meeting the late 2025 deadline to ensure the database is ready for the upcoming financial legislation.
In addition to discussing the state-owned estates, the Council of Ministers approved a bill related to wakfs, which are endowments for religious or charitable purposes. President Tebboune instructed that digitization mechanisms be adopted at every stage of the census for the religious affairs sector, as outlined in the statement.
