Marrakech: easyJet inaugurated on Wednesday its first air base in Africa, located at Marrakech-Menara Airport, in line with the strategic partnership signed in November 2025 with the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT). This inauguration, which comes as easyJet marks 20 years of operations in Morocco, ushers in a new era for the Kingdom’s air connectivity and national tourism development.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the new base is equipped with three Airbus aircraft and represents a total investment of more than £150 million. It also strengthens easyJet’s position as the second-largest airline operating in Marrakech. The opening of this permanent, year-round base will help, from the outset of operations, to offer a record 4 million seats to and from Morocco.
On the socio-economic level, the new base is expected to generate around 100 direct jobs, in addition to several thousand indirect jobs in the aviation, tourism, and services sectors. Each aircraft based in Marrakech represents around
£30 million in gross added value for the local economy, confirming the structuring role of air transport in territorial growth.
