Cairo: The Arab Republic of Egypt reaffirmed its support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco on Monday. This affirmation also extends to the latest Security Council resolution and emphasizes the need for a consensual political solution.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the latest resolution highlights that genuine autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty is considered the most viable solution for resolving the Moroccan Sahara issue. This position was articulated during the first session of the Morocco-Egypt Coordination and Follow-up Committee. The session was chaired by Morocco’s Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, and Egyptian Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly.

The committee’s meeting reiterated Cairo’s support for the current United Nations roadmap. This roadmap places the Moroccan autonomy initiative at the core of the resolution process for the Moroccan Sahara conflict.
