Egypt Triumph Over C´te d’Ivoire to Secure AFCON Semifinal Spot


Agadir: The Egyptian national football team successfully advanced to the semifinals of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 after a tense 3-2 victory against C´te d’Ivoire in a quarterfinal match held at the Grand Stadium of Agadir.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Egypt set the pace early in the match when Omar Marmoush scored in the 4th minute, giving them an early advantage. Rami Rabia extended the lead in the 32nd minute, putting Egypt in a strong position.



C´te d’Ivoire managed to narrow the gap with a goal just before halftime, as Ali Foutouh inadvertently directed the ball into his own net in the 40th minute. The second half saw Egypt’s captain, Mohamed Salah, bolster the team’s lead with a goal in the 52nd minute. However, C´te d’Ivoire kept the pressure on and responded with a goal from Guela Dou© in the 73rd minute.



With this victory, Egypt is set to face Senegal in the semifinals, scheduled to take place on Wednesday at the Grand Stadium of Tangier.
