Rabat: The Kingdom of Morocco is a “reliable” partner and a “pillar of stability” in the region, said Oliver Varhelyi, European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, in Rabat on Monday.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Morocco is not only viewed as a dependable partner but also as a crucial element of stability and prosperity in Europe concerning regional security. Varhelyi emphasized this point during a press briefing following his discussions with Nasser Bourita, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates.
Varhelyi described the partnership with Morocco as “positive” and “indispensable,” commending the collaborative efforts with the Kingdom. He acknowledged the EU’s reforms under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, indicating the importance of these initiatives. He stressed the need to intensify efforts to find feasible solutions to overcome existing challenges swiftly, expressing readiness for collaborative work.
“We are committed to all the achiev
ements we have made together with Morocco, and we would like to extend them,” Varhelyi stated, underscoring the progress made in joint actions, particularly in reforming Morocco’s social security project. The European Commissioner’s remarks highlight the strong commitment from the European side.
On this occasion, Varhelyi announced an upcoming agreement to support populations affected by the earthquake and subsequent reconstruction efforts, further solidifying the cooperative relationship between the EU and Morocco.
