EU’s Borrell: Quick spread of Polio threatens all children in Gaza

BRUSSELS: The High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union, Joseph Borrell, said the quick spread of Polio threatens all children in Gaza, already weakened by displacement, deprivation and malnourishment.

He urged for an immediate three-day humanitarian ceasefire, independent of wider negotiations, to enable vaccination by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

‘Our humanity demands it,’ said Borrell in a post on X.

The Israeli occupation is temporarily blocking the entry of humanitarian and relief aid into the Gaza Strip and seeks to reduce the number of aid trucks allowed entry.

Aid to Gaza has decreased during the past period due to the obstacles imposed by the Israeli occupation state, as part of its starvation policy against innocent citizens in the Strip.
