FOPREL VP Commends His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s Leadership in Enhancing South-South Cooperation.


Rabat: Vice President of the Forum of Presidents of Legislative Powers of Central America, the Caribbean and Mexico (FOPREL), Luis Rolando Redondo, praised the significant contributions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in advancing cooperation between Southern countries. He highlighted the strengthened ties between Morocco and Latin American nations, as well as their connections with Africa.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, on the sidelines of FOPREL’s 30th extraordinary session at the Moroccan Parliament headquarters, Rolando Redondo expressed satisfaction with the elevation of the Moroccan Parliament’s status from ‘permanent observer member’ to ‘advanced partner’ within the Forum. This change aligns with His Majesty the King’s vision for South-South cooperation, showcasing Morocco’s role as a gateway for Africa to Latin America, particularly Central America, the Caribbean, and Mexico.

Rolando Redondo, also the President of the National Congress of Honduras, noted that FOPREL members’ acceptance of
the Moroccan Parliament’s new status signifies increased closeness and provides a platform for collaboration on various issues. This development mirrors the efforts of other regional organizations aiming to strengthen South-South cooperation.

He emphasized Morocco’s active participation in FOPREL, stating that the Kingdom has consistently demonstrated commitment, responsibility, and action comparable to that of a partner member. Morocco’s dedication to partnership with FOPREL and enhancing parliamentary cooperation is highly regarded in Latin America.

Rolando Redondo also mentioned Morocco’s role as the upcoming host of the 2030 World Cup and its involvement in numerous development projects. These initiatives reflect a forward-looking vision for a better future, encouraging further strengthening of relations with Morocco in various fields.
