Foreign Ministry warns of occupation’s efforts to widen conflict to distract attention away from its crimes against Palestinians

RAMALLAH: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates warned on Tuesday of the Israeli occupation’s attempts to expand the scope of conflict to divert attention away from the crimes it is committing against the Palestinian people.

The Ministry warned of the plans of the occupation state and its ruling far-right government to further isolate the Palestinian people, escalate war crimes of genocide and displacement and commit additional mass atrocities in the Gaza Strip, including the recent targeting of schools sheltering displaced Palestinians, which has resulted in casualties, injuries and missing persons.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Ministry cautioned that the occupation is seeking to expand the conflict in the region to deflect attention from its crimes against the Palestinian people, remove its actions from the global political and media landscape and redirect international concern to other regions.

The Ministry reaffirmed the continuation of international efforts, led by President Mahmoud
Abbas and Palestinian diplomacy, in all international forums to immediately halt the genocide and forced displacement committed against the Palestinian people. These efforts culminated in the UN General Assembly’s adoption of the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), calling for an end to the occupation, colonization and their implications.

The Ministry affirmed its commitment to ongoing efforts until the Palestinian people attain their rightful and legitimate national rights.
