Dakhla: Speaking at the Morocco-France Economic Forum, Lecourtier stressed that French companies have already been part of the “impressive developments” Morocco has achieved, noting that they will also be part of the “even more remarkable developments in the South” of the country.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the ambassador highlighted Morocco’s significant progress across various sectors. He noted that in industry, the country has reached an unprecedented level within global value chains, while in the energy sector, Morocco is emerging as a major player. Lecourtier emphasized the role of Franco-Moroccan partnerships in capitalizing on this potential, particularly in renewable energies, interconnections between Europe and Africa, and green hydrogen prospects.
He outlined that these developments will predominantly occur in the regions of Guelmim-Oued Noun, LaSyoune-Sakia El Hamra, and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab. Lecourtier urged French companies to accelerate their efforts and seize the opportunities available in these regions.
The forum, as noted by Lecourtier, symbolizes the strong economic momentum between France and Morocco. He highlighted the strategic importance of hosting this event in Dakhla, a city seen as a hub for future collaborations. Lecourtier also mentioned that this forum underscores France’s definitive stance on the Sahara, a position supported by French President Emmanuel Macron, affirming that the Sahara’s future is under Moroccan sovereignty.
Additionally, Lecourtier remarked on the forum’s significance in projecting the Moroccan economy towards Africa and setting a new phase in the Franco-Moroccan economic roadmap. Organized by the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) and the Movement of the Enterprises of France (MEDEF) through the France-Morocco Business Leaders Club, the forum aims to bolster bilateral economic partnerships and discover new synergies between Moroccan and French business communities.
