French President’s Visit to Morocco Enshrines Long-Standing Friendship, French Minister Says

Rabat – French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Morocco enshrines a long-standing friendship between Rabat and Paris, French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau said on Monday.

‘I am very pleased to be part of the delegation accompanying the President of the Republic to Morocco,’ Retailleau told the press following the signing ceremony of several agreements between the Kingdom of Morocco and the French Republic, chaired by HM King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron.

These agreements will consolidate ties between the two countries in the months and years to come, he stressed.

‘I signed two important agreements. The first concerns a Declaration of Intent on strengthening cooperation in civil protection, which will enable us to promote relations and exchanges in civil security,’ he said.

The second is a Declaration of Intent to strengthen cooperation in fighting wildfires, including water bombers and aerial techniques to fight forest fires, Retailleau added, noting that ‘we are going to make
great progress, and because we are friends, nothing is impossible.’
