French Senate Speaker G©rard Larcher Highlights Strengthening Ties with Morocco

Rabat: Speaker of the French Senate G©rard Larcher welcomed on Monday in Rabat the momentum of the multidimensional partnership between France and Morocco.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Larcher made a statement to the press after his discussions with Morocco’s Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch. The talks focused on various aspects of the partnership between the two countries, particularly economic ties, following the recent state visit to the Kingdom by President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron.

Larcher highlighted that the agricultural partnership between the two nations is set to strengthen, with Morocco being chosen as the first guest of honor at the International Paris Agricultural Show, which commenced last Saturday. He also pointed out that the discussions covered prospects for enhancing bilateral cooperation in renewable energy sectors.

The Senate Speaker emphasized that the development of transport infrastructure was a topic of discussion, especially in the context of preparations for the 2030 World Cup. Additionally, issues concerning education, youth, and the French-speaking world were addressed during the meeting.

During his visit to Morocco’s Southern provinces, Larcher remarked that the trip aims to actualize what the French President mentioned in late October. He asserted that the present and future of the Sahara should be within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty and commended the exceptional development experienced by the region.

Larcher is accompanied by a significant delegation, including the Chairman of the France-Morocco Friendship Group Christian Cambon and the Chairman of the French Foreign Affairs, Defense and Armed Forces Commission C©dric Perrin. His visit to Morocco will continue until February 26.
