Rabat: Moroccan football has reached new heights under the visionary leadership of His Majesty the King, as emphasized by the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Lekjaa. He stated, “This is all the result and crowning of a Royal sports Vision led for a decade and a half,” referring to the foundation laid during the National Sport Conference in 2008.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Lekjaa highlighted that His Majesty the King “established the foundations, developed a clear roadmap in which the recipe for success to be implemented was explained in detail.” A significant turning point in Moroccan football was the inauguration of the Mohammed VI Football Academy in Sal©, which Lekjaa praised as “one of the, if not the single best facility at international football level.” This academy has produced notable talents such as Nayef Aguerd, Azzedine Ounahi, and Youssef En-Nesyri, who contributed to Morocco’s successful run to the semi-finals in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Lekjaa also emphasized the determined mindset of Moroccan footballers. He noted that the shared mindset among all national teams is to compete for titles and challenge historically dominant footballing nations.
Looking forward, the FRMF president expressed optimism about achieving a senior world championship title, inspired by the Atlas Cubs’ victory in Chile. “I think we’re going to see a Moroccan, African or Arab team win the senior title very soon. In any case, for us today, there is no reason not to fight for these trophies,” he stated, highlighting the universality of football expertise.
Furthermore, Lekjaa underscored the inclusive nature of the Moroccan national team, representing all Moroccans, whether trained locally or abroad. He praised the Mohammed VI Academy’s pivotal role in nurturing young talents who excel both domestically and internationally each year.
