Rabat: The Government Council adopted on Thursday draft law No. 05.26 relating to the meteorology and climate system and establishing the Moroccan Agency for Meteorology and Climate, taking into account the remarks raised.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the draft law was presented by the Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka. This legislation aims to strengthen the legal framework governing the field of meteorology and climate in Morocco by consolidating the governance system and defining the roles of various stakeholders, as explained by the Minister Delegate for Relations with Parliament and Government Spokesperson, Mustapha Baitas, during a press briefing following the Council’s meeting.
The draft law is also designed to enable the provision of both quantitative and qualitative meteorological and climate data and information in an efficient and reliable manner. This data is intended to become a fundamental lever for the development and implementation of public policies, supporting susta
inable development, and strengthening adaptability to climate change.
