Gov’t Head Launches New Health Facilities in Al Haouz Province


Al haouz: Morocco’s Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch launched Saturday in Al Haouz province the At Aourir community hospital and the secondary level rural health Center “Tazart”, thus completing the implementation of the rehabilitation program for primary health institutions, including upgrading and equipping 1,400 health centers in different provinces of the Kingdom.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the At Ourir Community Hospital, built on over 30,000 m2 at a total cost of MAD 85 million, aims to improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare services for the population of the province and surrounding areas, while helping to improve regional health indicators. With a capacity of 45 beds, this facility features an integrated infrastructure that meets the latest medical standards, including a reception and admissions department, an emergency department, a maternal and child health center, a medical-surgical inpatient unit, an operating room, a medical imaging department, a clinical laboratory, and an outpatient clinic, in addition to administrative and healthcare facilities.



The hospital will provide services to 278,762 residents across 16 communes, covering general and specialized medical consultations, emergency care, maternal and child health, medical and surgical hospitalization, general surgery, medical imaging and diagnostic services, laboratory testing, and outpatient consultations.



In turn, the “Tazart” secondary-level rural health center was launched following its renovation and equipping. This project is part of the program to rehabilitate and rebuild 114 health centers in areas affected by the September 8, 2023, earthquake, covering six provinces-namely Chichaoua, Marrakech, Al Haouz, Azilal, Taroudant, and Ouarzazate, at a total cost of MAD 393 million, as part of the program for the reconstruction and development of areas affected by the Al Haouz earthquake, in accordance with the High Royal Instructions.



This center comprises several functional units, including a reception area and a waiting room, a medical consultation room, a treatment and vaccination room, a basic examination and diagnostic room, a mother-child unit, a delivery room equipped with a dedicated space for newborns, as well as a pharmacy and support areas related to sterilization, storage, and hygiene, in addition to other sanitary facilities. The center will service approximately 22,000 residents, covering general medical consultations, maternal and child health care, maternity and delivery services, nursing care and preventive services, management of chronic diseases, as well as basic medical examinations, initial diagnosis, medication distribution, and pharmaceutical services.



These facilities have also been equipped with modern biomedical equipment to ensure the quality of the health services provided and to bring them closer to local communities.
