Rabat: A heatwave, along with thunderstorms accompanied by hail and strong wind gusts, is expected to affect several provinces across the Kingdom starting Thursday, according to an orange-level weather alert issued by Morocco’s Directorate General of Meteorology.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, temperatures ranging between 41°C and 46°C are forecast from Thursday through Sunday in the provinces of Kenitra, Taounate, Meknes, Fez, Moulay Yacoub, Khemisset, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Khouribga, Fquih Ben Salah, Settat, Youssoufia, Rehamna, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Chichaoua, Marrakech, Taroudant, Zagora, Tata, Assa-Zag, Boujdour, Es-Semara, Aousserd, and Oued Ed-Dahab.
During the same period, temperatures between 38°C and 41°C are expected in the provinces of Larache, Salé, Rabat, Skhirate-Temara, Nouaceur, Casablanca, Mohammedia, Berrechid, Benslimane, Mediouna, El Jadida, Sidi Bennour, Essaouira, Safi, Ouezzane, Khenifra, Béni Mellal, El Hajeb, Ifrane, and Sefrou, the same source added.
The Directorate
also forecast thunderstorms bringing 15-25 mm of rainfall, accompanied by hail and strong wind gusts, on Thursday between 1:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. in the provinces of Chichaoua and Taroudant.
