Rabat: A heatwave and strong wind gusts are expected in several provinces across the Kingdom starting this Friday, the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) said in an orange-level weather alert.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, a heatwave, with temperatures ranging between 42°C and 46°C, is expected from Friday through Sunday in the provinces of Sidi Slimane, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Marrakech, Rehamna, Khemisset, Youssoufia, Fquih Ben Salah, Aousserd, Kenitra, Sidi Kacem, Settat, Chichaoua, Oued Ed-Dahab, Boujdour, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Tata, Zagora, and Beni Mellal.
During the same period, temperatures ranging between 40°C and 43°C are expected in the provinces of Errachidia, Sidi Bennour, Safi, Nouaceur, Mediouna, Essaouira, Larache, Tinghir, Taounate, Moulay Yacoub, Fez, Berrechid, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Meknes, El Hajeb, Sefrou, Taroudant, Khouribga, Khenifra, Guelmim, Benslimane, Ouezzane, and Taza, the same source added.
The same weather conditions are also expected during the same period, with temperatures ranging between 33°C and 38°C in the provinces of Skhirat-Temara, Casablanca, Mohammedia, Rabat, Sal©, El Jadida, and Ifrane.
In addition, strong wind gusts ranging from 75 to 85 km/h are expected to affect the provinces of Tangier-Assilah and Fahs-Anjra from 10:00 a.m. on Friday until 11:00 p.m. on Saturday.
