Rabat: Heatwave conditions and thunderstorms are set to impact several Moroccan provinces from Monday to Friday, as per an alert bulletin released recently. Temperatures are expected to soar to between 40 and 44°C on Monday, affecting the provinces of Tata, Zagora, Khouribga, Ouezzane, Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Meknes, El Hajeb, Fez, Sefrou, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, and Taza.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the heatwave will extend into Tuesday and Wednesday, encompassing the provinces of Taza, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Ouezzane, Rehamna, Beni Mellal, Meknes, Fez, Moulay Yacoub, Khouribga, Settat, Chichaoua, Marrakech, Khémisset, Youssoufia, Taounate, and Taroudant, with temperatures remaining in the 40 to 44°C range.
The heat is expected to intensify further from Tuesday through Friday, with temperatures anticipated to rise between 44 and 47°C in the provinces of Tata, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Oued Ed-Dahab, Boujdour, and Aousserd.
In addition to the soaring temperatures, thunderstorms are predicted
on Monday between 2 p.m. and 11 p.m. in the provinces of Errachidia, Figuig, Azilal, Al Haouz, Tinghir, Ouarzazate, Boulemane, Midelt, Khénifra, and Ifrane. These storms may bring hail, gusts of wind, and rainfall amounts ranging from 15 to 25 mm.
