A heatwave is expected to affect several provinces of the Kingdom from Friday to Sunday, with temperatures reaching up to 49°C, the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) announced on Friday.
Temperatures of between 46 and 49°C will affect the provinces of Taroudant, Inezgane-Ait Melloul, Chtouka-Ait Baha, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Chichaoua, El Kelaa des Sraghna and Essaouira this Friday and Saturday, Marrakech, Rehamna, Safi, Youssoufia, Tan-Tan, Assa-Zag, Guelmim, Tarfaya, Laâyoune, Boujdour, Es-Semara and Oued Ed-Dahab, warned the DGM in a red alert bulletin.
This Friday, temperatures ranging from 38 to 42°C will affect the provinces of Ifrane, El Hajeb, Oujda-Angad, Taourirt, Jerada, Ouarzazate, Boulemane, Tinghir and the interior of the provinces of Rabat, Nouaceur, Tétouan, Fahs-Anjra, Al Hoceima, Driouch, Nador and Berkane, the Directorate stated in an orange alert bulletin.
According to the same source, temperatures between 44 and 47°C will be recorded this Friday and Saturday in the provinces of Ouezzane, Fez, Meknes, Moulay Yacoub, Guercif, Khemisset, Taounate, Sidi Slimane, Sidi Kacem, Taza, Beni Mellal, Khouribga, Benslimane, Sidi Bennour, Khenifra, Fquih Ben Salah, Settat and Zagora, Errachidia, Tiznit, Tata, Sidi Ifni and Aousserd, while temperatures between 37 and 41°C will be recorded during the same period in the provinces of Larache, Tangier-Assilah, Chefchaouen, Azilal, Al Haouz, El Hajeb, Sefrou, Berrchid and the interior of the provinces of Skhirate-Temara, Salé, Kenitra and El Jadida.
The heatwave will also persist on Sunday in the provinces of Taroudant, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Inezgane-Ait Melloul, Chtouka-Ait Baha, Assa-Zag, Guelmim, Tan-Tan, Tarfaya, Boujdour, Es-Smara, Laayoune, Oued Ed-Dahab, Ouezzane, Fez, Meknes and Taounate, Moulay Yacoub, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Khouribga, Béni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Settat, Rehamna, Youssoufia, Safi, Marrakech, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Chichaoua, Essaouria, Errachidia, Tiznit, Tata and Sidi Ifni with temperatures ranging from 44 to 47°C.
On Sunday, temperatures ranging from 39 to 43°C will be recorded in the provinces of Larache, Guercif, Taza, Khemisset, Azilal, Al Haouz, Sefrou, El Hajeb, Khenifra, Kenitra, Benslimane and Sidi Bennour.
