Heavy Rain and Snowfall Alert for Moroccan Provinces on Friday and Saturday


Marrakech: Heavy rain, snowfall, and strong gusts of wind are expected on Friday and Saturday in several provinces of the Kingdom, the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) announced.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, severe rainfall, mainly in mountainous areas ranging from 80 to 120 mm, is anticipated from Friday at 5 p.m. to Saturday at 11 p.m. in the provinces of Agadir Ida-Outanane, Taroudant, and Essaouira. This is detailed in a red alert report issued by the DGM.

Additionally, heavy rains measuring between 30 and 45 mm are forecast from Friday at 5 p.m. to Saturday at 6 p.m. in the provinces of Safi, Sidi Bennour, El Jadida, Chtouka Ait Baha, Inezegane, Ait Melloul, Tiznit, Chichaoua, Al Haouz, and Youssoufia as noted in an orange alert report by the DGM.

The report also indicates that similar weather patterns, with rainfall totals between 25 and 35 mm, will affect the provinces of Rehamna, Settat, and Marrakech on Saturday from midnight to 10 a.m.

In addition, snowfall above 1,600 meters
, ranging from 20 to 50 cm, will impact the provinces of Midelt, Tinghir, Azilal, Ouarzazate, Al Haouz, Taroudant, and Chichaoua from Friday at 9 p.m. to Saturday at 6 p.m.

Furthermore, strong gusts of wind between 95 and 105 km/h are expected on Friday from 11:30 a.m. to Saturday at 12 p.m. in the provinces of Al Haouz and Chichaoua. Wind speeds of 90 to 100 km/h are anticipated in the provinces of El Jadida, Sidi Bennour, Safi, Essaouira, Midelt, and Azilal, while gusts from 75 to 90 km/h are expected in Youssoufia, Figuig, Jerada, Oujda-Angad, Taourirt, Kelaa Sraghna, Marrakech, Rehamna, Agadir Ida Outanane, Taroudant, Boulemane, Guercif, and Berkane.

Lastly, strong gusts of wind, ranging from 75 to 90 km/h, are expected from Friday at 9 p.m. to Saturday at 6 a.m. in the provinces of Rabat, Skhirate-Témara, Nouaceur, Casablanca, Médiouna, Berrechid, Mohammédia, Benslimane, and Settat.
