Rabat: Heavy rain, thunderstorms with a risk of hail and strong gusts of wind are forecast for Thursday and Friday in several Moroccan provinces, according to the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM).
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, heavy rain and thunderstorms ranging from 60 to 90 mm are expected from Thursday at 12 p.m. to Friday at 11 p.m. in Chefchaouen, Tetouan, Larache, Al Hoceima, and Taza. This weather alert was issued in an orange bulletin by the DGM, indicating significant weather activity over the region.
The same weather conditions will impact the provinces of Taounate and Ouezzane with rainfalls between 40-60 mm. Additionally, Kenitra, Sefrou, Fez, Sidi Kacem, Beni Mellal, Meknes, Tangier-Assilah, M’Diq-Fnideq, Moulay Yacoub, Fahs-Anjra, El Hajeb, Ifrane, Khenifra, Khemisset, and Sidi Slimane are expected to experience rain ranging from 30-40 mm over the same period.
Strong gusts of wind reaching speeds of 75 to 85 km/h are forecasted for Thursday between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. These winds will affect the provinces of Fahs-Anjra, Larache, Tangier-Assilah, Tetouan, M’Diq-Fnideq, Taroudant, Ouarzazate, Midelt, Kenitra, Berkane, Driouch, Figuig, Nador, Oujda-Angad, El Jadida, Safi, Sidi Bennour, El Hajeb, Ifrane, Boulemane, Sefrou, Al Hoceima, Guercif, Taounate, Taza, Chefchaouen, and Taourirt.
On Friday, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., similar wind conditions are expected to affect the provinces of Taroudant, Al Haouz, Tetouan, M’Diq-Fnideq, Berkane, Driouch, Figuig, Tata, Ouarzazate, Jerada, Nador, Tiznit, Larache, Tangier-Assilah, Taza, Chefchaouen, Fahs-Anjra, Ifrane, Midelt, Boulemane, Sefrou, Al Hoceima, Guercif, Oujda-Angad, Azilal, Taourirt, and Tinghir.
