HH Shaikh Khalid to lead Royal Endurance Team in Spanish championship

First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, General Sports Authority Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President, His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa will lead the Royal Endurance Team in the Spanish International Championship amid wide participation to compete in the 120 and 160-kilometre races.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, hailing royal support which enabled the Royal Endurance Team to shine in the world.

He praised the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, noting the Government’s keenness on promoting this longstanding sport.

He commended the efforts made by HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, Royal Endurance Team captain to further develop the equestrian sports, especially endurance sport.

He said that HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s role in developing the endurance sports represents a source of pride in the prosperous era of HM the King.

He stressed the importance of participating in the Spanish Endurance Championship, noting the role of this sport bringing landmark achievements to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

“The Spanish Endurance Championship is one of the major international competitions that witnesses wide participation”, he said, indicating that the Royal Endurance Team includes young elements capable of shining.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa led the Royal Endurance Team during the last training session at the championship village. He also attended the pre-race veterinary tests and weighing sessions.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa will lead the Royal Endurance Team in the 160-km race, which features also riders Read Mahmoud and Othman Al Awadhi.

Meanwhile, Salman Isa, Manal Fakhrawi, Isa Al Enzi, Ahmed Al Dhawadi, Sultan Al Romaihi and Abdulla Al Ruwai will compete in the 120-km race.

They hailed the role of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa in leading the Royal Endurance Team in the championship which will further motivate them to achieve positive results.
