HM King Mohammed VI Reaffirms Commitment to Moroccan Sovereignty in Green March Anniversary Speech.


Rabat: His Majesty King Mohammed VI delivered a poignant speech to the nation on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the Green March, emphasizing Morocco’s unwavering commitment to its sovereignty over the Sahara region. The address highlighted the historical significance of the Green March and reiterated the country’s achievements in establishing a strong attachment between the Sahara’s inhabitants and Morocco.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, King Mohammed VI underscored the irreversible progress made in the Moroccan Sahara, marked by security, stability, and growing international recognition of the region as Moroccan territory. The King highlighted the broad support for Morocco’s Autonomy Initiative while addressing ongoing challenges such as outdated demands for a referendum and the humanitarian situation in the Tindouf camps.

King Mohammed VI also addressed Morocco’s willingness to facilitate Sahel countries’ access to the Atlantic Ocean, emphasizing cooperation and shared progress. He reaf
firmed that Morocco’s partnerships and legal obligations will not compromise its territorial integrity and sovereignty.

In his speech, the King commended the patriotism of the Moroccan community abroad and announced plans to restructure the institutions managing their affairs. This restructuring includes the rapid adoption of a new law for the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad and the establishment of the Mohammadia Foundation for Moroccans Residing Abroad to enhance the community’s ties with their homeland.

The King concluded by urging citizens to continue building on the achievements of the Green March, ensuring that the progress made benefits all regions of Morocco, and honoring the legacy of his father, the late King Hassan II.
