Manama, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, as part of Michel’s visit to the region.
His Majesty discussed the strong relationship between Bahrain and the European Union and the mutual commitment to continue to advance them to benefit both sides.
The discussions also touched on the upcoming first Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and European Union summit, scheduled for October in Brussels. His Majesty wished the summit success to further strengthen the partnership between the two blocs and enhance collaboration to serve mutual interests and support peace, security, and development both regionally and globally.
Furthermore, His Majesty and the President of the European Council addressed key regional and international developments, particularly in the Middle East.
HM the King emphasised the importance of securing a ceasefire in Gaza and ensuring humanitarian aid reaches the affected population to alleviate their suffering. He reiterated Ba
hrain’s support for a lasting and comprehensive peace based on a two-state solution, which would enhance stability and security in the region. His Majesty reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to backing initiatives that promote peace and stability on both regional and global levels.
On his part, Michel commended Bahrain’s role in fostering strong relations with the European Union. He also underscored the EU’s keenness to enhance cooperation with Bahrain across all domains and praised the Kingdom’s efforts in supporting peace and stability in the region.
